In an unspecified meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Mr Duterte said he will drill for oil in the South China Sea, citing an international arbitration tribunal ruling upholding the Philippines’ claim. That prompted a retort from Mr Xi, according to Mr Duterte. We will fight you,” Mr Duterte on Friday quoted Mr Xi as saying. China’s claim is “far away”, Mr Duterte said in the southern city of Davao, recalling what he told Mr Xi.
